The brass & bronze metal utensils cluster of Mirzapur city is one of the oldest clusters in the country which is about 150-200 year back or more than four generation of present enterprises.

At present there are more than 300 units / enterprises  manufacturing  brass utensils or similar work and The human resource involved is approx. 5000 and indirect employment is about 5000 people.

The Mirzapur city is exactly located south of Son River. The son river has special kind of black and  yellow sand, which is mostly useful for preparing mould, and this sand has special characteristic that the temperature bearing capacity of the sand is also high. This river has bulk quantity of molding sand and clay.

Total installed capacity of the brass cluster Mirzapur is approximate by 12000 MT per year and we can say nearly 8% of the total people of the city involve in the activity of brass utensils manufacturing.

At present There are 300 families manufacturing brass German silver  & Gun metal Utensils. Out of 300 enterprises 100 units, tiny enterprises ,150 unit/ enterprises are SSI attached with Brass utensils manufacturing process.

Brass  Utensils               : Thali, Lota, Bhagauna, Kathot, Kalchul, karahi, katora, Handa, Paraat, Gagra etc.
German Silver Utensils  : Lota, Glass, Kathout, Tastari, Katora etc.
Copper Utensils              : Handi, Kadahi, Lota etc.

People are using now a day's stainless steel utensils but the market demand of the brass utensils is constant. It is also necessary for well development of cluster as strong cluster, diversification of the product is necessary like items nozzle pump, engineering equipment, decorative & hardware items etc.

Most of the enterprises using old brass scrap as raw material for manufacturing  utensils.  The traders coming along with brass scrap and exchange (new) utensils form units. At present fresh raw material is easily available. Maximum enterprises are using advanced and traditional as well manual techniques independently as well together having rolling machine, power press, grinding, polishing and buffing machines. The entrepreneur has good skill and production is good according to man, machine & material.

Mirzapur Brass Cluster is engaged in the production of various of type brass & German silver utensils such thali, lota, kalchul etc.

Market scenario is unlimited for such utensils and are used in many areas.

The product demand is too wide in terms of distribution to almost all states of India as well outside from India.

The main reason  of development of brass industry is due to availability of raw material, sand traditional skill and need.
